Lyon, 1783. Jacques was twelve years old when his parents entrusted him to Fournier-Martin, an austere but renowned silk merchant. Initially saddened by this fate, his apprenticeship within the Grande Fabrique became the scene of founding encounters, which gradually forged his character as a young man.
